Kidz at the Cross -- Children's Day Out Program

The Children's Day Out program was launched in 1988 with the purpose of caring, educating, and developing each child to his or her greatest potential.  The program recognizes that each child is growing spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally and socially. Kidz at the Cross provides learning and developmental experiences consistent with the Christian principles of Church at the Cross.

Age appropriate activities for children in 1C through PreK will be offered and led by some of our very qualified staff. Ideas such as playtime rotating between our TREEHOUSE play center, our outdoor play park, an occasional movie, craft, snack, etc will extend your child’s day of fun while you take care of errands that you need to run.

CDO CURRICULUM

The teaching staff is dedicated to making C.D.O.  a positive experience. The rooms are arranged into play-learning centers where children can make choices for individual and small group activities.  The C.D.O program uses the WeeLearn Curriculum, which is a developmentally based curriculum. An academic curriculum which consists of various academic tools including Alpha Time and Frog Street Press is added in the Four Year Old/Pre-K classes.   Each 4’s/Pre-K class focuses on helping to prepare the children for a positive kindergarten experience.  Our goal is to build upon the developmental foundations of trust, independence and initiative so that each child will feel good about himself and his world.

We are excited to offer a new addition to our program…a Transitional Kindergarten. This class has been created for those children desiring more time before starting kindergarten. TK will include a brand new curriculum building upon the skills presented in our Pre-K classes. We will work on mastering fundamentals in preparation for reading and writing. This will ensure the child’s developmental progress and prepare for a successful kindergarten experience the following year.

SPECIAL DAYS

What great fun! There are two special days each month. Some of our favorites are Drive-In Movie Day, Western Day, Pajama Day, and State Fair Day. We also have a special mother's tea and a graduation for our PreK students.

ACTIVITIES

Children's Day Out also includes the following activities to enhance our curriculum:
    Chapel
    Music
    Library and/or Story Time
    Computer Lab (4’s/Pre-K)

MEDICAL /SICKNESS

Shot records are due no later than the first week of school. We do ask that your child not attend when they have had a fever, vomiting or diarrhea in the previous 24-hour period.

REST TIME

We do require all children to have a rest time each day. We provide mats for each child and they are allowed to bring blankets and security items. We play quiet music while the children rest. They are not made to sleep, but must rest quietly.
