How do I become a Christian?

It's not that hard!  In fact, it's as simple as your ABC's

Admit you aren't perfect (Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fallen short...")

Believe God can forgive your sins (I John 1:9 says, "He is faithful...and will forgive us our sins")

Confess your sins to God (confess means "to agree with" - so you are simply agreeing that God is correct in declaring you a sinner in need of forgiveness).  Romans 10:9-10 declares, "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."  Now talk to him through prayer and become a Christ-follower...

Pray this simple prayer:

Dear Jesus,
I agree with you that I have sinned and I'm not perfect.  I ask you to forgive me of my sins.  I believe you are God's Son, that you died in my place on the Cross, the innocent for the guilty.  Thank you for being my substitute, and I trust your Word when it tells me that "all who call on your name will be saved."  Thank you for forgiving all my sins.  I ask you to be my Lord (boss) and Savior.  I will live for you and follow your Word to the very best of my ability.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

What's the next step?

Congratulations are in order!  If you prayed the above prayer (and it doesn't have to be word for word...it's the attitude of your heart that God is interested in) you are now a Christian.  The first step of obedience for you is for you to follow Jesus' command to be baptized ("...baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit" - Matthew 28:18).  Join a Bible-believing church and get involved in worship and a small-group Bible study at a minimum.  Finally, before the day is over, tell someone about your decision (a friend, co-worker, pastor, etc) — we would love to hear about your decision also.
